She Shoots Sheep Shots

Yesterday I traveled to the Kitschy Stitch in Rehoboth Beach, DE and had the most interesting time in a workshop led by Gale Zucker, a professional phototgrapher whose work appears in one of my favorite books - Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines. Gale's blog is is here She Shoots Sheep Shots.

And here is Gale!

We had assignments that really helped me step outside of my normal shooting range. Here we shot against black velvet.

The owner of the shop was extremely gracious and friendly. I love the color combination she chose for her shawl.

I brought a particularly troublesome to shoot red scarf and had success against a complementary background.

A participant had just finished her first shawl pattern that she will be selling on Ravelry. Gale has such a creative sense of styling. It really opened me to what backdrops and poses work well to display fiber. Here is the designer and her beautiful shawl, named after her dear cat - Max.

Twirling it in space was very cool.

It was fun just to walk around and move the shawl.

It was a great day, unless you wanted to go to the beach. I mean really, is there any space left? And who wants to sit in bake in the heat. Whew, I am hot just looking at this picture.

Off to work in my garden, looks like a lovely day here. Hope everyone had a great weekend too!
